Paragraph 12 of the complaint adequately alleges that the defendant's citizenship traces back to the citizenship of William Howard, but the fact that FCC records list an address for Mr. Howard in South Carolina does not suffice to allege that Mr. Howard's domicile (versus his residence) is in South Carolina. (Indeed, it does not suffice to establish even that Mr. Howard's current residence is in South Carolina.) An individual's citizenship is based on the state in which he is domiciled (which may differ from the state of residence). See Myrick v. WellPoint, Inc., 764 F.3d 662, 664 (7th Cir. 2014) ("Citizenship means domicile (the person's long-term plan for a state of habitation) rather than just current residence."); Heinen v. Northrop Grumman Corp., 671 F.3d 669, 670 (7th Cir. 2012) ("[R]esidence may or may not demonstrate citizenship, which depends on domicilethat is to say, the state in which a person intends to live over the long run.
