ORDER: The Court on its own motion dismisses this action as duplicative of Crawford v. Truitt, Case No. 22 C 4748 (N.D. Ill.) (also a petition for a writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. 2254 challenging his conviction in Case No. 08 CR 5781 of Cook County Circuit Court). The two 2254 petitions are nearly identical in substance, and it appears the second petition was submitted without knowledge that the first one had been filed.1 If Crawford wishes to amend his petition in Case No. 22 C 4748, he may seek to do so once he has resolved his filing fee obligation. The Court directs the Clerk to: administratively close this case; terminate all pending motions as moot; send Crawford a copy of the petition #1 in this case, a copy of this order, and a blank amended petition for writ of habeas corpus (person in state custody) form; and send Kiar Brown (IDOC #M18929, at Pontiac Correctional Center) send a copy of this order. For future reference, Brown is advised not to send court filings on behalf of others. Because the Court is administratively closing this case, a filing fee will not be assessed. Civil case closed.
