ORDER: Lake County detainee Douglas Valentine initiated this lawsuit under 42 U.S.C. 1983, but he did not pay the Court's filing fee or apply for leave to proceed in forma pauperis. Plaintiff has until June 2, 2023, to either (1) submit an application to proceed in forma pauperis on the enclosed form along with a certified copy of his trust fund account statement showing all transactions to his account for the six-month period immediately preceding his initiation of this lawsuit; or (2) pre-pay the $402.00 filing fee. Failure to comply will result in dismissal of this lawsuit. Plaintiff should be aware that waiver of the fee is not an option. Thus, if he is granted leave to proceed in forma pauperis, he must pay the filing fee over time in installments consisting of 20% of his monthly income (including money sent by family and friends) until the filing fee is paid in full. This obligation will continue even if he is transferred to another facility. The Court defers consideration of Plaintiff's complaint #1 under 28 U.S.C. 1915A until after his fee status is resolved.
