MAILED Order dated 6/7/2023 to Plaintiff's address of record, (the Cook County Jail). (jh, ) |
Filing 5 ORDER: On May 1, 2023, the Clerk received case opening documents sent to Plaintiff's address of record (the Cook County Jail) that the U.S. Postal Service had returned with no new contact information #3 . The Clerk's Office is under no obligation to track Plaintiff down, especially since he is an experienced litigant who has initiated thirty lawsuits in this judicial district, including this one. Plaintiff, like all litigants, is required to keep his address up to date so the Court can communicate with him. He is also required to monitor the docket. See Harris v. Emanuele, 826 F. App'x 567, 569 (7th Cir. 2020) (holding that pro se plaintiff's inability to receive mail from the district court because he was homeless after a fire "did not relieve him of his obligation to monitor the court's docket" by periodically contacting the Clerk's Office); Platt v. United States Dep't of Educ., 775 F. App'x 253, 255 (7th Cir. 2019) (rejecting pro se litigants' "contention that they did not receive notice of the briefing order" because "even if that were true, they, like all parties, must diligently inquire about the status of their cases by checking the court's docket periodically"). Accordingly, Plaintiff must update his address by June 30, 2023. If he does not comply, the Court will summarily dismiss this case. Due to a lack of other options, the Court directs the Clerk to send a copy of this order to Plaintiff's address of record (the Cook County Jail). Signed by the Honorable Sara L. Ellis on 6/7/2023.
