| Filing 14 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Edmond E. Chang: (1.) On review of the complaint, R. 1, and the status report, R. 13, the Court poses this jurisdictional inquiry. (A.) Plaintiff Crum & Forster alleges that its "main administrative offices" are in New Jersey. R. 1, para. 5. To ensure that "main administrative offices" is the same as principal place of business (the terminology used in the other jurisdictional paragraphs), the Plaintiff must set forth that allegation explicitly. (B.) Pella Corporation (the sole member of Pella Products, LLC) has its principal place of business in Iowa, but the complaint does not set forth its State of incorporation. (C.) The complaint alleges that Defendant Brenner is a "resident" of Illinois, but citizenship is determined by domicile, not residency. The parties shall file a Joint Jurisdictional Memorandum addressing these issues by 10/11/2023. (2.) On review of the status report, R. 7, and the docket, the insured-Defendant Millennium Windows has not filed an answer, which was due on 09/20/2023 (see R. 5). Defendant Millennium Windows is deemed in default. The parties shall file a status report by 10/11/2023, stating explaining why the Plaintiff should not just file a motion for default judgment at this point.
