Filing 13 ANSWER to Complaint by Charles DeHart, Great Northern Transportation Co.(Levin, Alex) |
Filing 12 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Maria Valdez: The parties' agreed schedule is entered as follows: Defendant shall answer by 12/5/23; Rule 26(a)(1) disclosures are due by 12/26/23; written discovery must be issued no later than 1/23/24; amendments to pleadings or actions to join other parties must be filed by 9/24/24; fact discovery closes 10/22/24; initial experts must be disclosed by 12/24/24 and deposed by 1/28/25; rebuttal experts must be disclosed by 3/4/25 and deposed by 4/8/25; and all discovery must be completed by 5/13/25. The dispositive motion schedule will be set at a later date if necessary. Because the discovery deadlines are so generous, the parties are expected to proceed expeditiously to complete discovery by the dates they chose. There will be no extensions absent good cause under Fed. R. Civ. P. 16(b)(4), which requires diligence on the movant's part. See Alioto v. Town of Lisbon, 651 F.3d 715, 720 (7th Cir. 2011). The Court generally does not consider obligations in other cases, vacations, illnesses, or difficulty scheduling depositions to demonstrate good cause, as there is more than enough time to complete discovery even if those expected complications arise. A status report on discovery and the prospects of settlement is due by 3/1/24. (rbf, ) |
