December 6, 2023 Filing 26 MINUTE entry before the Honorable M. David Weisman: Magistrate status hearing held. Pro se plaintiff appeared in person. Defense counsel appeared in person. Case referred for discovery management and settlement. Court inquired about settlement conference. Defense counsel stated demands have been made by plaintiff but believe settlement conference is premature. Defendants to issue written discovery by 1/8/24. Plaintiff can use defendants' discovery requests as a model; plaintiff's discovery requests to be issued by 1/29/24. A joint status report shall be filed by 3/7/24. Status hearing set for 3/12/24 at 9:15 a.m. Plaintiff shall email the courtroom deputy, Ms. Owens, and copy defense counsel with alternative dates if the 3/12/24 date does not work for plaintiff. Parties may appear at the next status hearing by telephone, if desired. Court will set close of fact discovery at next status hearing, so parties shall be prepared to inform the Court as to how much discovery they will need. Court inquired about protective order. Any motion for protective order (Court requests one protective order for the case) shall be filed 12/21/23 and should include a statement as to whether it is agreed. The proposed order should be based on the Form LR 26.2 Model Confidentiality Order, and the parties must submit a clean copy of their proposed order, along with a corresponding redlined copy of the Court's model order, to the Court's proposed order email address: Proposed_Order_Weisman@ilnd.uscourts.gov. If the proposed order is acceptable to the Court, it will be entered. Parties may appear in person or dial in using the Court's conference call-in number. The conference call-in number is 1-877-411-9748 and the passcode is 1814539. Please note that the Court's conference call-in will be used by all cases that are on the Court's calendar for the said date, therefore counsel must be in a quiet area while on the line and must have the telephone muted until your case is called by the Court. Once the Court has heard your case you shall disconnect from the conference line. Members of the public and media who wish to listen to this hearing may call in. Persons granted remote access to proceedings are reminded of the general prohibition against photographing, recording, and rebroadcasting of court proceedings.
