Filing 9 ORDER: The Court denies Plaintiff's applications for leave to proceed in forma pauperis #3 #6 because they are incomplete. Plaintiff must either (1) submit a renewed and complete application to proceed in forma pauperis that complies with the instructions in the Statement below or (2) pay the $405.00 filing fee. Failure to comply by January 31, 2024, will result in summary dismissal of this lawsuit. Plaintiff also must promptly update his address if it changes while this case is open. If he does not keep the Court informed of his address, this lawsuit will be subject to dismissal with no further notice. The Court denies Plaintiff's motion for attorney representation #4 because he did not demonstrate financial eligibility for court-recruited counsel, see Brown v. United States, 737 F. App'x 777, 781 (7th Cir. 2018) (explaining that discretion to recruit counsel is reserved for indigent litigants), or a reasonable attempt to obtain counsel on his own, see Russell v. Bukowski, 608 F. App'x 426, 428 (7th Cir. 2015) ("[B]efore a district court is required to consider recruiting counsel to assist a litigant in a civil case, the litigant must make a reasonable attempt to secure counsel for himself."). The Court defers consideration of Plaintiff's complaint until his fee status has been resolved. The Clerk of Court is directed to send Plaintiff a blank application for leave to proceed in forma pauperis along with a copy of this order. Signed by the Honorable Sharon Johnson Coleman on 12/22/2023: Mailed notice. (rc, ) |
