Filing 1 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ORDER: On November 30th, 2023, James Modjeski attempted to bring a knife into the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse in Chicago, which was discovered at the screening station in the lobby. Mr. Modjeski was initially compliant until he was advised that he would be cited for the undeclared knife. The Executive Committee finds that there is sufficient cause for concern regarding Mr. Modjeski's conduct if he is not escorted during his time in the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse in Chicago, Illinois or the Roszkowski U.S. Courthouse in Rockford, Illinois, therefore, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT to maintain judicial security, James Modjeski will only be permitted to enter the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse in Chicago, Illinois or the Roszkowski U.S. Courthouse in Rockford, Illinois when he is ordered to do so by a judge of a United States Court to be physically present in the Courthouse for proceedings scheduled by a Court, and then may enter the Courthouse no earlier than fifteen (15) minutes before the scheduled time of the proceedings. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED THAT upon entering the Courthouse, Mr. Modjeski must first report to the officer at the lobby desk by identifying himself. He must then identify the Court proceedings he is required to attend, naming the judge presiding over the matter before he will be allowed through the security check point in the Courthouse lobby. Mr. Modjeski will be accompanied in the Courthouse to and from the proceedings by a Deputy United States Marshal or another representative of the United States Marshals Service, and he must leave the Courthouse no later than five (5) minutes after his scheduled proceedings in Court are completed. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED THAT Mr. Modjeski may not enter the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse in Chicago, Illinois or the Roszkowski U.S. Courthouse in Rockford, Illinois other than as stated above until further order of this Executive Committee. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED THAT a miscellaneous file with the title "In the Matter of: James Modjeski" and case number 23 CV 17101 shall serve as the repository of this order, and any order or minute order entered pursuant to this order. The Clerk will also maintain a miscellaneous docket associated with the file. All orders retained in the file will be entered on that docket following standard docketing procedures. IT IS ALSO ORDERED that the Clerk shall cause a copy of this order to be left at the security desk in the lobby to hand to Mr. Modjeski the next time he enters one of the courthouses of the Northern District of Illinois. Signed by the Executive Committee on 12/27/2023. Mailed notice. (lw, ) |
