August 26, 2024 Filing 8 ATTORNEY Appearance for Defendant Health Care Service Corporation dba Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois by Amanda June Witt (Witt, Amanda)
August 19, 2024 Filing 7 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Keri L. Holleb Hotaling: This matter has been referred to Judge Holleb Hotaling for discovery supervision. The District Court has already set the discovery schedule in this case [Dkt. 6], which the Court adopts, including the firm fact discovery deadline of 4/1/2025. The parties are reminded to promptly bring any discovery motions before the Court, including motions to enforce subpoenas or motions for protective orders. Although this matter has not yet been referred to Judge Holleb Hotaling for settlement, Judge Holleb Hotaling encourages the parties to review her standing order on Settlement Conferences and to have early discussions about settlement. The parties are to file an updated joint status report on 11/6/2024 indicating the progress of discovery and whether the parties are interested in a settlement conference. The parties should keep in mind that Judge Holleb Hotaling's schedule typically is booked 2-3 months out from present with regards to settlement conferences, so the parties should notify Judge Holleb Hotaling's chambers as soon as possible once they realize they want a settlement conference so the Court may have a settlement referral opened; they do not need to wait for the next status report due date. (rbf, )

August 16, 2024 Filing 5 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Edmond E. Chang: On review of the status report, R. 3, the response to the complaint is due on 10/07/2024. The Court sets the following schedule, with remaining deadlines to be set by the magistrate judge: Rule 26(a)(1) disclosures due 10/21/2024. The first round of written discovery requests must be issued by 11/01/2024. Fact discovery, including any treating health care providers (if any), must be completed by 04/01/2025. Rule 26(a)(2)(C) summaries for treating health care providers (if any) must be disclosed 75 days in advance of the fact discovery deadline, and adjusts with any general extension of fact discovery deadline. Rule 16(b) deadline to add parties or amend pleadings is 01/13/2025. **No summary judgment motion may be filed before the close of fact discovery without prior authorization of the Court.** Discovery supervision is referred to the magistrate judge (including the authority to adjust all deadlines). The tracking status hearing of 08/23/2024 is reset to 10/18/2024 at 8:30 a.m., but to track the case only (no appearance is required, the case will not be called). Emailed notice (mw, )

Chang: Initial tracking status hearing set for 08/23/2024 at 8:30 a.m. to track the case only (no appearance is required, the case will not be called). Instead, the Court will set the case schedule after reviewing the written status report. The parties must file a joint initial status report with the content described in the attached status report requirements by 08/15/2024. Plaintiff must still file the report even if Defendant has not responded to requests to craft a joint report. If Defendant has not been served, then Plaintiff must complete the part of the report on the progress of service. Also, counsel (or the parties, if proceeding pro se) must carefully review Judge Chang's Case Management Procedures, available online at ilnd.uscourts.gov (navigate to Judges / District Judges / Judge Edmond E. Chang). Because the Procedures are occasionally revised, counsel (or the party, if proceeding pro se) must read them anew even if the counsel or the party has appeared before Judge Chang in other cases.
