Alexakis: The Court denies Plaintiff's motion for leave to effect service by email and, if necessary, electronic publication #15 , where Plaintiff has asserted that Defendant Kemei is "organized and located in the People's Republic of China." See Kangol LLC v. Hangzhou Chuanyue Silk Import & Export Co., Ltd., Appeal No. 25-2205, slip op. at 1014 (7th Cir. May 29, 2026) (reversing district court's denial of a motion to vacate default judgment and holding that the Hague Convention prohibits service by email in China). In addition, Exhibit B to Plaintiff's motion appears to reflect a known business address for Defendant Kemei in China. [16-2]. Notwithstanding Exhibit B, if Plaintiff's position is that Defendant Kemei's address is, in fact, not known and therefore that the Hague Convention does not apply in this matter, Plaintiff may renew its motion for electronic service but must support that position with sworn affidavits and legal authority. The Court then will determine whether Plaintiff has made reasonably diligent efforts to ascertain and verify the Defendants' mailing addresses before deeming them unknown. See Kangol LLC, Appeal No. 25-2205, slip op. at 910; NBA Props., Inc. v. P'ships and Unincorporated Ass'ns Identified in Schedule "A," 549 F. Supp. 3d 790, 796 (N.D. Ill. 2021).
