March 23, 2023 Filing 4 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Iain D. Johnston: The complaint alleges that this case falls within the court's diversity jurisdiction. But for the defendant LLC, the complaint alleges only the state's law under which it was organized and its principal place of business, not its members and its members' citizenship. See Thomas v. Guardsmark, LLC, 487 F.3d 531, 534 (7th Cir. 2008) ("Consequently, an LLC's jurisdictional statement must identify the citizenship of each of its members as of the date the complaint or notice of removal was filed, and, if those members have members, the citizenship of those members as well."). In addition, the plaintiffs have not complied with recently-amended Fed. R. Civ. P. 7.1(a)(2), which requires the plaintiff to disclose its citizenship. By 3/30/2023 the plaintiff shall file both a Rule 7.1(a)(2) disclosure as well as a written jurisdictional statement alleging the citizenship of the parties, the members of the defendant LLCs, and the citizenship of the members. Counsel may find helpful the Court's article on its webpage entitled, "Know the answer to federal jurisdiction." (yxp, )
