Under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 41(a)(2), an action may be dismissed at the plaintiff's request only by court order, on terms the court considers proper. In deciding whether to grant a Rule 41(a)(2) motion to dismiss, a court may look at a variety of factors, including the explanation given for the need of a dismissal. Tyco Laboratories, Inc. v. Koppers Co., Inc., 627 F.2d 54, 56 (7th Cir. 1980). Here, Plaintiff's motions to dismiss contain no explanation. Plaintiff is ORDERED to file a supplement to his motions within 7 days of the entry of this Order explaining why dismissal of Defendants Yarway Corp. and Union Carbide should be without prejudice.
