Order STRIKING #7 Response to Order. Plaintiff originally submitted a Complaint that lacked his signature and a request for relief. On July 18, 2018, the Court returned the Complaint to him with instructions to sign it, add a request for relief, and return it to the Court no later than August 15, 2018. Plaintiff instead returned his signature page with 30 pages of exhibits. The Court does not accept piecemeal amendments to a complaint. The Complaint must stand on its own without reference to any other document. Standing alone, this document does not represent a complete Complaint. Plaintiff is therefore ORDERED to file a single complete Complaint that includes a signature page and request for relief by August 15, 2018. Failure to do so by this deadline may result in dismissal of this action. ORDER: Plaintiff filed an unsigned #1 Complaint pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 1983 on July 17, 2018. (Doc. 1, p. 11). It includes no request for relief. Id. Rule 11(a) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure requires that "[e]very pleading, written motion, and other paper must be signed... by a party personally if the party is unrepresented." Rule 8(a)(3) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure requires "[a] pleading that states a claim for relief [to] contain... a demand for the relief sought, which may include relief in the alternative or different types of relief." See id. In a civil rights action filed pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 1983, the request for relief typically includes a request for monetary damages and/or injunctive relief. To proceed with this action, Plaintiff is ORDERED to submit a properly signed Complaint, including exhibits, that includes a request for relief within twenty-eight (28) days (on or before August 15, 2018). Failure to comply with this order shall result in the striking of Plaintiff's Complaint and the dismissal of this action. See Fed. R. Civ. P. 41(b). To enable Plaintiff to comply with this Order, the CLERK is DIRECTED to return a copy of the Complaint (Doc. 1) to Plaintiff along with this order. (Action due by 8/15/2018). Signed by Judge Staci M.
