ORDER re #1 Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus filed by Tracy Inman. The Petition has not been signed. Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 11(a) requires that pleadings be signed by an attorney representing the party or, if the party is unrepresented, personally by the party himself. A pro se party must handwrite his or her signature unless there is a local rule allowing for typed signatures, which there is not in this district. See Talley-Smith v. Mission Lane, LLC, No. 25-2689 (7th Cir. Feb. 24, 2026) (citing Becker v. Montgomery, 532 U.S. 757, 763-64 (2001)). The Court must strike documents that fail to comply with Rule 11(a)'s signature requirement if the deficiency is not promptly corrected. The Court DIRECTS the Clerk's Office to send Inman pages 1-8 of the Petition filing, the Petition itself without attachments. Inman shall have 21 days from entry of this order to sign the copy of the Petition and refile it. The Clerk's Office is DIRECTED to docket the signed copy as an exhibit to the original #1 Petition. If Inman fails to sign the Petition, the Court will strike it for failure to comply with Rule 11(a) and will dismiss this case pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 41(b) for failure to prosecute or failure to obey a Court order or under its inherent authority to manage its docket. Signed by Judge J. Phil Gilbert on 5/18/2026. (tlp)THIS TEXT ENTRY IS AN ORDER OF THE COURT. NO FURTHER DOCUMENTATION WILL BE MAILED.
