TEXT-ONLY ORDER: On July 20, 2023, the Court issued an order for Plaintiff's counsel to show cause for his failure to participate in the preparation of a discovery plan or to appear for the scheduling conference. (ECF No. #10 , PageID.55.) On July 21, 2023, new counsel appeared for Plaintiff and explained that prior counsel "does not have MIED credentials and may not have known about" the Court's order to participate in the preparation of the discovery plan and to appear for the scheduling conference. (ECF Nos. #11 #12 .) This is not enough to satisfy the order to show cause. If Plaintiff's prior counsel does not have the appropriate credentials to practice in this court, he should have taken action when he received the notice of removal. See E.D. Mich. LR 83.20. And he should have done whatever he needed to do to monitor the docket. Irrespective of both points, defense counsel made numerous attempts to contact him, and he did not respond. So this response does not excuse Plaintiff's counsel's deficiencies. Plaintiff or her counsel shall pay as a sanction the fees incurred by defense counsel for appearing at the scheduling conference.
