February 29, 2024 Filing 9 MINUTE ORDER IN CHAMBERS of the Honorable Magistrate Judge Elayna J. Youchah on 2/29/2024. By Judicial Assistant: E. Santiago. Before the Court is the proposed Joint Discovery Plan and Scheduling Order (ECF No. #8 ) through which the parties seek an initial discovery period of 270 days. The proposed plan and order is denied. The Court understands this case involves insurance underwriting issues arising from an automobile accident, but such a lengthy initial discovery period will undoubtedly lead to the failure to actively pursue and conduct discovery until some unknown date in the future. The parties must submit a plan measuring discovery 180 days from the date of this Order.Accordingly, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the Joint Discovery Plan and Scheduling Order (ECF No. #8 ) is DENIED.IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the parties must submit a revised discovery plan and scheduling order that includes an initial discovery period of 180 days measured from the date of this Order. So long as discovery is actively pursued in the initial period, the Court will grant reasonable extensions as necessary to allow the completion of necessary discovery.
