Filing 17 MINUTE ORDER IN CHAMBERS of the Honorable Judge Gloria M. Navarro on 3/1/2024. Pending before the Court is the #16 Motion to Extend Time to Refile Verified Petitions Attaching Certificates of Good Standing. (See ECF No. #16 ). This Court's 15 Minute Order noted that the #10 and #11 Petitions lacked Certificates of Good Standing and provided a deadline of February 29, 2024, to file corrected Petitions. Per the #16 Motion, Petitioners promptly requested Certificates of Good Standing from the Supreme Court of the State of California, but have not yet received them. They request an additional week to refile. Under this District's Local Rule IA 11-2(b)(3), verified petitions must include a certification of good standing of the court or courts in which the applicant has been admitted to practice law. For good cause appearing, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that Petitioners shall have until March 8, 2024, to file completed verified petitions with the corresponding certificates of good standing. Filing 15 MINUTE ORDER IN CHAMBERS of the Honorable Judge Gloria M. Navarro on 2/22/2024. Pending before the Court are the #10 and #11 Petitions to Practice Pro Hac Vice, filed by Plaintiffs The Bureau Fashion Week LLC and The Society Fashion Week LLC. Per the Court's 12 Minute Order, Petitioners added the correct party signatures to their Petitions. However, the updated Petitions now lack certificates of good standing. Under this Court's Local Rules, a verified petition to practice in a particular case must include "an attached certification issued within six months before the date of filing of the verified petition that the applicants membership is in good standing from the state bar or from the clerk of the supreme court or highest admitting court of every state... in which the applicant has been admitted to practice law." LR 11-1(b)(3). The Petitions note that Petitioners are admitted to practice in California but do not include certificates of good standing issued within six months. (See Petitions to Practice Pro Hac Vice at 2, ECF Nos. #10 , #11 ). Accordingly, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the Court DEFERS ruling on the Petitions. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Petitioner shall have until February 29, 2024, to file a corrected Verified Petition using the "Notice of Corrected Image/Document" event that includes all applicable Certificates of Good Standing. Failure to timely remedy the deficiencies WILL result in the denial of the Verified Petition and Petitioners requirement to repay the filing fee.(Copies have been distributed pursuant to the NEF - SKV) |
