July 31, 2019 Opinion or Order Filing 6 SCHEDULING ORDER: Plaintiff and a representative of defendant must appear at initial conference in person. No exceptions. Failure to attend in person may result in sanctions. Initial Conference set for 9/5/2019 at 2:00 PM in Courtroom 2E North before Magistrate Judge Ramon E. Reyes Jr., located in the United States Eastern District of New York Courthouse, 225 Cadman Plaza East, Brooklyn, New York 11201. Plaintiff's counsel is directed to ensure that all counsel and clients are aware of their obligation to appear. July 10, 2019 Opinion or Order ORDER: The Court notes that though Defendant removed this case on June 10, 2019, it has failed to show that it answered in state court in its removal documents and has also failed to file an answer in the instant case. Because the deadline for Defendant to answer Plaintiff's complaint was, at the latest, June 17, 2019, the Defendant is in default. See Fed. R. Civ. P. 81(c)(2); see also Fed. R. Civ. P. 55(a) ("When a party against whom a judgment for affirmative relief is sought has failed to plead or otherwise defend, and that failure is shown by affidavit or otherwise, the clerk must enter the party's default.").
