ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE re #1 Complaint, filed by Thomas Hild. In his complaint, which was filed in federal court on the basis of diversity jurisdiction, plaintiff Thomas Hild alleges that the defendant LLCs are Connecticut corporations with their principal places of business in Connecticut. See Complaint paras. 8-13. However, a limited liability company has the citizenship of each of its individual members, which must be set forth in the pleading. See Mackason v. Diamond Fin. LLC, 347 F.Supp.2d 53, 55-56 (S.D.N.Y. 2004). Thus, the complaint is clearly deficient with respect to alleging complete diversity of the parties. Accordingly, plaintiff is directed to show cause, by January 20, 2021, why the case should not be dismissed for lack of jurisdiction. Ordered by Magistrate Judge Roanne L. Mann on 1/13/2021.
