January 16, 2022 Opinion or Order ORDER granting in part #10 . Defendants may have until 2/14/2022 to answer because "[i]n truth, the answer in a civil action is the most useless paper in the courthouse." Alexander By and Through Alexander v. Richardson-Merrell Inc., 541 F.Supp. 93, 94 (S.D.N.Y. 1982). For that reason, the Court holds Initial Status Conferences prior to service of the answer. Much more useful than an answer is going to be the parties' joint summary letter giving each side's perspective on what happened here. Defense counsel has plenty of time, if he hasn't done it already, to debrief his client as to its payroll practices and plaintiff's claim and submit defendants' portion of the joint summary letter and case management plan. Accordingly, the Initial Status Conference on 2/2/2022 shall proceed as scheduled. Ordered by Judge Brian M. Cogan on 1/16/2022. (Weisberg, Peggy)
