Filing 8 NOTICE of Appearance by Vincent Lipari on behalf of All Defendants (aty to be noticed) (Lipari, Vincent) |
Filing 7 Letter Clarifying Scope of Request in RE Docket No. 2 by Tamar Doe (Grosz, Allison) |
ORDER re #7 Letter filed by Tamar Doe. The Court permits Plaintiff to use the alias surname "Doe" and permits Plaintiff to redact sensitive personal information in docket entries in this matter. Ordered by Magistrate Judge Joseph A. Marutollo on 3/15/2024. (JAM) |
ORDER re #6 Letter filed by Tamar Doe. On March 1, 2024, Plaintiff filed a "Motion for Leave to Electronically File Document under Seal for a Writ in the Nature of Mandamus." See Dkt. No. 2. In the letter, Plaintiff explains why she filed this action using an alias and asks the Court to "grant leave to file this matter under seal." Id. It is not clear to the Court, from Plaintiff's initial letter or the subsequent letter request for clarification, whether Plaintiff is requesting leave to proceed using an alias, to file the entire case under seal, to file a document under seal, to simply redact sensitive information, or a combination of the aforementioned requests. Thus, by March 15, 2024, Plaintiff shall file a letter-motion that clarifies the scope of her request. To the extent Plaintiff seeks leave to file the entire matter under seal, in addition to seeking leave to proceed anonymously, then Plaintiff shall: (1) explain why other safeguards, like proceeding anonymously or those referenced by the Court in its March 2, 2024 order, are insufficient to protect Plaintiff's identity such that sealing this entire matter is warranted; (2) cite to case law in support of the request; and (3) provide Defendants' position regarding Plaintiff's application to seal the entire matter. Ordered by Magistrate Judge Joseph A. Marutollo on 3/13/2024. (KAR) |
Filing 6 Letter Requesting Clarification of Text Order for Docket No. 2 by Tamar Doe (Grosz, Allison) |
ORDER denying #2 Motion for Leave to Electronically File Document under Seal. The Court denies the motion without prejudice to renewal. Plaintiff shall re-file the letter-motion by March 15, 2024. The re-filed letter-motion shall address whether other safeguards are sufficient to protect the identity of Plaintiff. Such safeguards may include the protections set forth in Fed. R. Civ. P. 5.2(c); the use of a protective or confidentiality order; the entry of redactions for portions of any sensitive filings (with unredacted pleadings filed under seal); and the use of an alias for Plaintiff on all documents. The letter-motion shall also cite to case law to support her application to seal the entire matter, rather than specific docket entries. In the letter-motion, Plaintiff shall also provide the position of Defendants regarding Plaintiff's application to seal the entire matter. Ordered by Magistrate Judge Joseph A. Marutollo on 3/2/2024. (Marutollo, Joseph) |
