February 8, 2024 Filing 31 MINUTE entry before the Honorable Nancy L. Maldonado: Defendant's emergency opposed motion to stay all proceedings pending JPML determination #29 is granted for the reasons stated in the motion. The Court finds that staying this case until the MDL panel rules is in the interest of judicial economy, there is minimal prejudice to Plaintiff in light of the relatively short period of the stay until the MDL panel's 3/28/24 sitting, and in the absence of a stay Defendant would suffer prejudice by having to unnecessarily expend resources on what may be duplicate litigation. Although the parties sent a proposed briefing schedule to the Courtroom Deputy, the Court finds that briefing will unnecessarily expend additional resources on this simple issue. The deadline for Defendant to respond to the amended complaint by 2/26/24 is stricken. Instead, the parties shall file a joint status report by 4/5/24 on the status of Defendant's motion to transfer. (ca, ) [Transferred from Illinois Northern on 4/15/2024.]
