For the foregoing reasons, Thomson Reuters's motion for summary judgment is GRANTED, and all of Kidd's claims are dismissed...The Clerk of Court is directed to terminate Docket Nos. 47 and 65 and to close the case, and as further set forth herein. Filing 31 JOINT LETTER addressed to Judge Jesse M. Furman from John Soumilas dated 8/12/2016 re: referral to mediation. Document filed by Lindsey A Kidd.(Soumilas, John) |
Filing 30 MEMO ENDORSEMENT on re: #28 Letter, filed by Thomson Reuters Corporation. ENDORSEMENT: Upon review of the parties' letters, the Court believes that Plaintiff should be allowed to conduct expert discovery to ensure that she is able to make any and all arguments come summary judgment. Put another way, the Court believes that it should resolve the parties' dispute about the relevance of expert testimony at the summary judgment stage, and not in this posture. That said, the Court agrees with Defendant that a 75-day extension of the discovery deadline is unnecessary and inappropriate under the circumstances. Accordingly, all discovery (fact and expert) shall be completed by October 21, 2016. The parties shall confer and agree upon interim discovery deadlines to ensure that all discovery is completed by that date; the parties should not anticipate any further extension of that discovery deadline. In light of the foregoing, the pretrial conference previously scheduled for September 22, 2016, is ADJOURNED to October 26, 2016, at 2:15 p.m. (Expert Discovery due by 10/21/2016. Fact Discovery due by 10/21/2016.) (Pretrial Conference set for 10/26/2016 at 02:15 PM before Judge Jesse M. Furman.) (Signed by Judge Jesse M. Furman on 8/10/2016) (tn) |

Filing 27 LETTER addressed to Judge Jesse M. Furman from John Soumilas dated 08/05/2016 re: Expert Discovery. Document filed by Lindsey A Kidd.(Soumilas, John) |
Filing 26 PROTECTIVE ORDER RE: CONFIDENTIAL DOCUMENTS...regarding procedures to be followed that shall govern the handling of confidential material...(As further set forth in this Order.) This stipulation binds the parties to treat as confidential the documents so classified. This Court, however, has not reviewed the documents referenced herein; therefore, by so ordering this stipulation, the Court makes no finding as to whether the documents are confidential. That finding will be made, if ever, upon a document-by-document review pursuant to the procedures set forth in the Court's Individual Rules and Practices. To that end, the Court notes that the filing of documents under seal mandated by Paragraph 9 is to be done "subject to the procedures of the Court," and does NOT authorize the parties to file documents under seal without a prior court order. (Signed by Judge Jesse M. Furman on 8/1/2016) (cf) |
