Date Filed Document Text
January 20, 2021 Opinion or Order Filing 64 ORDER: By letter dated December 10, 2020, and filed via ECF on January 5, 2021, pro se Plaintiff informed the Court that he was "uninterested in moving forward" with this action and sought to voluntarily dismiss his claims. (Doc. 60). By le tter dated January 19, 2021, Defendant notified the Court that she has no objection to Plaintiff's request that the Court voluntarily dismiss Plaintiff's action. Accordingly, pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 41(a)(2), the Court d ismisses Plaintiff's action. The Clerk is directed to terminate this action. Additionally, the Clerk is directed to mail a copy of this Order to Plaintiff at the address provided on the docket. SO ORDERED. (Signed by Judge Philip M. Halpern on 1/20/2021) (ama) Transmission to Docket Assistant Clerk for processing.
August 25, 2020 Opinion or Order Filing 58 AMENDED ORDER GRANTING PRO BONO COUNSEL: For the foregoing reasons, the Clerk of Court is directed to attempt to locate pro bono counsel to represent Plaintiff for the limited purposes described above. The Court advises Plaintiff that there are no funds to retain counsel in civil cases and the Court relies on volunteers. Due to a scarcity of volunteer attorneys, a lengthy period of time may pass before counsel volunteers to represent Plaintiff. If an attorney volunteers, the attorney will contact Plaintiff directly. There is no guarantee, however, that a volunteer attorney will decide to take the case, and plaintiff should be prepared to proceed with the case without an attorney. The Court certifies under 28 U.S.C. § 191 5(a)(3) that any appeal from this Order would not be taken in good faith and therefore IFP status is denied for the purpose of an appeal. See Coppedge v. United States, 369 U.S. 438, 444-45 (1962). The Clerk shall mail a copy of this Order to Plaintiff at the address on the docket. SO ORDERED. (Signed by Judge Philip M. Halpern on 8/25/2020) (ks) Transmission to Docket Assistant Clerk for processing.
