Date Filed Document Text
July 2, 2019 Opinion or Order Filing 26 ORDER. For the reasons that follow, discovery in this case is stayed pending the resolution of Defendant's anticipated motion to dismiss, and the initial pretrial conference scheduled for July 8, 2019 is adjourned sine die. On July 1, 2019 the parties submitted their proposed case management plan and scheduling order, along with a joint status letter. Dkt. No. 25. Upon review of those materials, the Court concludes that Defendant's anticipated motion presents issues of law which may narrow or dispose of this case. The Court further observes that there are substantial efficiencies to be gained by staying discovery, given the breadth of potential discovery and the potentiality that Defendant's motion may narrow the scope of discovery, or dispose of the case. May 20, 2019 Opinion or Order Filing 12 MEMO ENDORSEMENT on re: #11 Letter filed by S.T.A. Parking Corp. ENDORSEMENT: Application denied without prejudice. This request does not comply with the Court's Individual Rules of Practice in Civil Cases which require, inter alia, that requests for extensions of time must state "whether the adversary consents and, if nor, the reason given by the adversary for refusing to consent" and "proposed alternative dates." Individual Rules of Practice in Civil Cases 1(E). To be extremely clear, the Court asks the parties to confer regarding alternative dates and times that will work for all parties, and to propose them, so that the Court does not fix an alternative date that does not work for all parties. In that way, the Court hopes to avoid otherwise unnecessary multiplication of letters regarding scheduling matters. SO ORDERED. (Signed by Judge Gregory H. Woods on 5/20/2019) (anc)
