Filing 3 ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE: Matthew David Bennett, an inmate at the Bedford County Jail in Shelbyville, Tennessee, filed a pro se civil rights complaint in this Court (the Middle District of Tennessee). He has not resolved the filing fee. As explained below, however, this case could have been brought in the Eastern District of Tennessee, and it would be in the interest of justice and more convenient for the parties and witnesses to transfer the case there. Accordingly, Plaintiff may respond to this Order to present his view on whether this case should be transferred to the Eastern District. Accordingly, it appears that transfer is appropriate under Section 1404(a). Plaintiff may (but is not required to) respond to this Order to present his view on whether this case should be transferred. Any response to this Order must be filed within 30 DAYS of the date this Order. If Plaintiff does not respond to this Order by the deadline, the Court will transfer this case to the Eastern District of Tennessee for the reasons stated above. Signed by Chief Judge Waverly D. Crenshaw, Jr on 8/24/2022. (xc:Pro se party by regular mail.) (DOCKET TEXT SUMMARY ONLY-ATTORNEYS MUST OPEN THE PDF AND READ THE ORDER.)(mg) |
