Filing 4 ** TEXT ONLY ORDER ** On October 9, 2019, Sheppard filed a letter in each of his three pending lawsuits, complaining in vague terms that staff at the Fox Lake Correctional Institution ("FLCI") have been tampering with his legal materials and preventing him from accessing his legal documents. ('724 (dkt. #3 ; '152 (dkt. # 14 ); '896 (dkt. # 30 ).) Since none of Sheppard's claims in his pending lawsuits relate to these assertions, the court will not construe this letter as a motion for preliminary injunctive relief. Accordingly, if Sheppard meant this filing to be such a motion, that motion is DENIED. That said, Sheppard does have the right to litigate his ongoing matters, but he has not provided enough details about what has been happening for the court to infer that FLCI staff are currently preventing him from doing so. If FLCI staff are causing Sheppard to miss deadlines (which does not appear to have occurred), or preventing him from conducting discovery by improperly blocking his access to his legal materials, Sheppard should inform the court by providing a detailed explanation of exactly who prevented him from using his legal materials, when that happened, and why he needed those materials to litigate an ongoing case. Signed by District Judge William M. Conley on 10/09/2019. (rks),(ps) |
