Filing 8 ** TEXT ONLY ORDER ** The court is in receipt of plaintiff Deshaun Staten's declaration, in which he avers that he informed staff at Coluumbia Correctional Institution that he was going on a hunger strike, but staff have failed to check on him and now he is vomiting, has blood in his feces and urine, and is in extreme pain. Staten still has not paid the initial partial filing fee required for him to proceed with this lawsuit. However, given the severity of Staten's symptoms, I'm directing the clerk of court to forward Staten's declaration to the Attorney General's Office to ensure that Columbia staff are responding adequately to Staten's serious medical needs. The Attorney General's Office is directed to file a status report about Staten's medical health needs by April 6, 2020. Signed by Magistrate Judge Stephen L. Crocker on 3/30/2020. (jef),(ps) |
