Filing 21 Response re: 20 Text Only Order,,,,, Providing 2025 Trial Dates Agreeable to All Parties by Defendant Jefferson Capital Systems LLC. (Lamphere, Stephanie) |
Filing 20 ** TEXT ONLY ORDER ** In this lawsuit involving consumer debt, the parties have submitted a Rule 26(f) report in which they are proposing a trial date "in or around March 2026," with experts disclosed in May and June of 2025, and dispositive motions filed on June 15, 2025. See dkt. #14 . These dates are unrealistically long by a full year. Judge Peterson currently is setting trial dates in May and June 2025 for cases of this nature. (This court is giving new nationwide class actions early 2026 trial dates, but that's it). The January 18, 2024 telephonic preliminary pretrial conference is CANCELED. Counsel shall promptly meet and confer to agree on a new trial date from among these dates available to Judge Peterson, all in 2025: May 12, 27 (Tuesday), June 2, 9, 16, 23, July 14, 21, or 28. The parties must report the date they have chosen not later than January 25. If none of these dates work for all parties, then they must explain why not, and the court will pick one of these dates based on the input it receives. The court then will issue a scheduling order using its usual scheduling template for a case of this nature leading toward the chosen date. Signed by Magistrate Judge Stephen L. Crocker on 1/18/2024.
