March 6, 2024 Opinion or Order Filing 5 ** TEXT ONLY ORDER **Plaintiff Richard Petersen has named Arch Insurance Company as an "involuntary plaintiff" in the complaint. Dkt. #1 . Plaintiff says that he named Arch because it has paid worker's compensation benefits, including medical expense, on his behalf and may have an interest in this case by virtue of such payments. But "there is nothing in the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure that permits a plaintiff unilaterally to force another party to join his lawsuit as an involuntary plaintiff." Doermer v. Oxford Fin. Grp., Ltd., 884 F.3d 643, 646 (7th Cir. 2018). So Arch Insurance Company is DISMISSED without prejudice. Arch may move to intervene if it wants to join plaintiff's lawsuit.
