Filing 17 Entry Discussing Petition for a Writ of Habeas Corpus - Petitioner Curtis Jones was convicted of murder in an Indiana state court. He is currently serving a sixty-year sentence for this crime. Mr. Jones now seeks a writ of habeas corpus. For the r easons explained in this Entry, Mr. Jones's petition for a writ of habeas corpus is denied and the action dismissed with prejudice. In addition, the Court finds that a certificate of appealability should not issue. Because Mr. Jones failed t o carry his burden on his claims, he is not entitled to habeas relief, and his petition is therefore denied. Judgment consistent with this Entry shall now issue. Certificate of appealability is denied. (See Entry.)Signed by Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson on 7/8/2016.(BRR) |
