Order Denying Motion for Extension of Time - Plaintiffs' motion to extend the time for showing cause why this action should not be dismissed, dkt. #8 , is denied. The motion was filed five days after the deadline for showing cause, see dkt. 4, and does not demonstrate good cause for extending the deadline. Plaintiff Dominique Sandra Marie Lax was in jail when this action was filed and remains in jail as of this date. That she is confined in allegedly poor conditions is not a circumstance that prevented plaintiff Crystal Lax from complying with Court deadlines. This action remains closed pursuant to the Order and Final Judgment entered June 11, 2019. Copies to Crystal Lax and Dominique Sandra Marie Lax via U.S. mail. Order Dismissing Action and Directing Entry of Final Judgment - Plaintiff Crystal Lax filed this action on her and her daughter's behalf. Ms. Lax is not an attorney. The filing fee was not paid, and none of the named defendants are suable entities. On screening, none of the asserted claims were found to be viable federal claims. The complaint was dismissed. The Court allowed Ms. Lax through June 5, 2018, in which to pay the filing fee or submit a properly completed motion for in forma pauperis status, and to file an amended complaint that cured the deficiencies identified in the screening order. Ms. Lax was informed that the failure to comply with the screening order no later than June 5, 2018, would result in the dismissal of this action. No amended complaint has been filed, nor has the filing fee been paid. For these reasons, and for the reasons explained in the screening order of May 3, 2019, see dkt. #4 , this action is dismissed for failure to state a claim upon which relief can be granted.
