August 6, 2019 Opinion or Order Filing 4 ORDER GRANTING IN FORMA PAUPERIS STATUS, SCREENING COMPLAINT, AND DIRECTING FURTHER PROCEEDINGS - Pro se Plaintiff, Teresa Simmons, has filed a complaint without prepaying the filing fee. This Order addresses Ms. Simmons' motion to proceed in forma pauperis, dkt. #2 , screens her complaint, and directs further proceedings.granting #2 Motion for Leave to Proceed in forma pauperis. Any claim against the Indianapolis Police Department is dismissed because it is not a suable entity under Indiana law. Any claim against Marion County Judges is dismissed because judges are immune from suit for money damages when they act in their judicial capacity. Ms. Simmons' complaint must be DISMISSED for each of the reasons set forth above. Ms, Simmons shall have through September 3, 2019 to show cause why Judgment consistent with this Entry should not issue. (See Order.) Copyto plaintiff via US Mail.
