December 12, 2022 Opinion or Order Filing 9 ORDER GRANTING MOTION FOR INFORMATION - The plaintiff sent a letter to the Court that has been construed as a motion for information and notice of status of filing fee. Dkt. 8. The plaintiff informs the Court that he submitted a request for remittance on December 2, 2022, to pay his initial partial filing fee. The plaintiff asks if he can submit an additional exhibit in support of his complaint. The motion, dkt. [ #8 ], is granted to the extent that the plaintiff may file a motion to add exhibits in support of his complaint before the Court screens the complaint. However, the Court observes that it is not necessary for the plaintiff to do so. While the Court may consider documents attached to a complaint, it is the plaintiff's burden to plead a short and plain statement of the claim in the complaint itself. Fed. R. Civ. P. 8(a)(2); Williamson v. Curran, 714 F.3d 432, 436 (7th Cir. 2013). If the plaintiff does not submit the additional exhibits, the Court will screen his complaint and will consider the previously submitted exhibits in support thereof, see dkts. 1, 1-1, 1-2, and 1-3, once the Court receives the initial partial filing fee.
