ORDER ADDRESSING FILING FEE - Petitioner filed a petition for writ of habeas corpus under 28 U.S.C. 2241. Dkt. 1. On December 22, 2023, the Court ordered Petitioner to pay the $5.00 filing fee for this case of demonstrate his financial inability to do so. Dkt. 4. As of the writing of this Order, Petitioner has not paid the filing fee or otherwise responded to the Court's Order, and the time for doing so has passed. Accordingly, on or before February 26, 2024, Petitioner shall either: (1) pay the $5.00 filing fee for this case; or (2) demonstrate his financial inability to do so. ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE - The United States is notified of the filing of the petition for a writ of habeas corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. 2241 and of the supporting memorandum. The respondent shall have until February 8, 2024, in which to answer the allegations of the habeas petition, and in doing so shall show cause why the relief sought by the petitioner should not be granted. The petitioner shall have twenty-eight days after service of the answer in which to reply. The petitioner shall have twenty-eight days, in which to either pay the $5.00 filing fee or demonstrate his financial inability to do so. Show Cause Response due by 2/8/2024.
