Filing 7 TEXT ORDER: All habeas cases filed with this Court are initially assigned only to a magistrate judge by the Clerk of Court. The petitioner and respondents then must execute and file with the Clerk's Office a selection form either consenting to the jurisdiction of the magistrate judge or electing to have the case randomly assigned to a district judge. If any party elects to have the case assigned to a district judge, the magistrate judge continues to manage the case by deciding non-dispositive motions and submitting reports and recommendations on dispositive motions, unless otherwise directed by the district judge. Therefore, it is ORDERED that on or before 2/8/24 any party that has not yet filed a consent-election form must complete an election form either consenting to jurisdiction by the Magistrate Judge or electing to have a District Judge assigned to the case, and shall file the form with the Clerk's Office. A copy of the form can be found on this Court's website at: http://www.pawd.uscourts.gov/sites/pawd/files/Consent-to-Mag.pdf. Signed by Magistrate Judge Patricia L. Dodge on 1/25/24. Text-only entry; no PDF document will issue. This text-only entry constitutes the Order of the Court or Notice on the matter. (jpe) |
