October 13, 2023 Filing 3 District Judge Leo T. Sorokin: ELECTRONIC ORDER entered. Alexis Hernandez-Lopezs motion for appointment of counsel (Doc. No. 1) is TRANSFERRED to the District of Puerto Rico inasmuch as it renews (in English) a motion previously filed in an action pending there. The Court has reviewed that related criminal docket (No. 13-cr-534-SCC, D.P.R.) and notes that the underlying request (ECF No. 5060) was denied by that court on September 15, 2022, ECF No. 5526. To the extent Hernandez-Lopez wishes to commence a new civil action in this District via this submission, that much of the motion is DENIED without prejudice. The Court takes no position on the merits of such an action or whether Hernandez-Lopez has satisfied prerequisites to filing, such as exhausting any available administrative process. However, he may not initiate a civil action through the motion he has filed. Instead, he must file a complaint and either pay the $402 filing and administrative fee or seek leave to proceed in forma pauperis. (Dore, Samantha) [Transferred from mad on 10/16/2023.]
September 11, 2023 Filing 2 ELECTRONIC NOTICE of Case Assignment. District Judge Leo T. Sorokin assigned to case.
