May 31, 2023 Opinion or Order Filing 10 ELECTRONIC ORDER: Before the Court is Plaintiff's Statement Re [sic] the Court's Order to File the Entry of Appearance of Local Counsel (Doc. No. 9). The Court construes this Statement as a motion for extension of time to obtain local counsel. The Court previously ordered Plaintiff to file the entry of appearance of local counsel by May 30, 2023. Doc. No. 5. Having considered Plaintiff's Statement, the Court hereby GRANTS the request for an extension of time. Although Plaintiff asks that his deadline be extended to May 13, 2023, see Doc. No. 9 at 2, the Court assumes Plaintiff meant June 13, 2023. Accordingly, Plaintiff shall file the entry of appearance of local counsel satisfying the requirements of Local Civil Rule 83.10(a) by June 13, 2023. May 9, 2023 Opinion or Order Filing 6 ELECTRONIC ORDER: Plaintiff filed this case in federal court on the basis of diversity jurisdiction. See Compl. (Doc. No. 1) at 2. Rule 7.1 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure was recently amended to include a specific disclosure requirement for parties in cases where subject matter jurisdiction is based on diversity under 28 U.S. C. 1332(a). Fed. R. Civ. P. 7.1(a)(2) (effective December 1, 2022). Rule 7.1(a)(2) provides that a party to an action based on diversity shall file a disclosure statement which "must name--and identify the citizenship of--every individual or entity whose citizenship is attributed to that party" at the time the case is filed and again if any event occurs later which could affect the court's subject matter jurisdiction. Id. Plaintiff's Certificate of Interested Persons/Disclosure Statement (Doc. No. 1-3) does not comply with Rule 7.1(a). Thus, Plaintiff shall file an amended certificate of interested persons/disclosure statement by May 16, 2023. (Ordered by Judge Ed Kinkeade on 5/9/2023) (chmb)
