June 27, 2023 Opinion or Order Filing 9 ELECTRONIC ORDER: Defendant removed this case to federal court on the basis of diversity jurisdiction. See Doc. No. 8 at 2; see also Doc. No. 1 at 2. In cases where subject matter jurisdiction is based on diversity under 28 U.S. C. 1332(a), Rule 7.1(a)(2) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure requires that each party's disclosure statement "must name--and identify the citizenship of--every individual or entity whose citizenship is attributed to that party[.]" Fed. R. Civ. P. 7.1(a)(2) (effective December 1, 2022). Defendant filed its Corporate Disclosure Statement and Certificate of Interested Parties (Doc. No. 7), but it does not comply with the requirements of Rule 7.1(a)(2). Accordingly, Defendant shall file an amended disclosure statement by June 30, 2023. June 12, 2023 Opinion or Order Filing 4 ORDER: "Federal courts are courts of limited jurisdiction. They possess only that power authorized by Constitution and statute." Kokkonen v. Guardian Life Ins. Co. of Am., 511 U.S. 375, 377 (1994). Federal courts are vested with subject-matter jurisdiction over all civil actions "arising under the Constitution, laws, or treaties of the United States," or where the case in controversy exceeds $75,000 and is between citizens of different states, or between citizens of a state and citizens or subjects of a foreign state. 28 U.S.C. 1331, 1332(a)(1)(2) (2012). Defendant may amend its Notice of Removal to correct these jurisdictional defects as outlined above by June 26, 2023.
