ELECTRONIC ORDER: N.D. Tex. L. Civ. R. 83.10 requires local counsel "in all cases where an attorney appearing in a case does not reside or maintain the attorney's principal office in this district. 'Local counsel' means a member of the bar of this court who resides or maintains the attorneys principal office in this district and whose residence or principal office is located within 50 miles of the courthouse in the division in which the case is pending." Based on a review of the docket, it appears that Plaintiff and Defendant lack local counsel. The Court ORDERS both parties to, by August 17, 2023, designate local counsel pursuant to N.D. Tex. L. ELECTRONIC ORDER: Defendant removed this case to federal court on the basis of diversity jurisdiction. See Doc. No. 1. In cases where subject matter jurisdiction is based on diversity under 28 U.S. C. 1332(a), Fed. R. Civ. P. 7.1(a)(2) requires that each party's disclosure statement "name and identify the citizenship of every individual or entity whose citizenship is attributed to that party." Defendants Certificate of Interested Persons, Doc. No. 2, does not comply with the requirements of Rule 7.1(a). The Court ORDERS Defendant to file an amended disclosure statement that complies with Rule 7.1(a) by July 28, 2023. ORDER: Federal courts are vested with subject matter jurisdiction over all civil actions "arising under the Constitution, laws, or treaties of the United States," or where the case in controversy exceeds $75,000 and is between citizens of different states, or between citizens of a state and citizens or subjects of a foreign state. 28 U.S.C. 1331, 1332(a)(1)-(2). Accordingly, by July 28, 2023, the Court ORDERS Defendant to amend its Notice of Removal to properly reflect its citizenship and the citizenship of Plaintiff. Furthermore, each party's Certificate of Interested Persons / Disclosure Statement must properly reflect the citizenship of Plaintiff and Defendant.
