ORAL ORDER: Plaintiff requests that the court stay this case for 150 days so that he may attempt to obtain counsel to represent him. The court does not see any basis to stay the case and especially not for such a long time. But the court will give plaintiff a shorter extension of time to file his amended complaint, which will also allow him time to try to find counsel. Thus, it is hereby ORDERED that Leonard's motion for stay (Dkt. No. 13) is construed as a motion for extension of time and GRANTED IN PART. Plaintiff must file any amended complaint (complying with the court's February 11, 2022 order) not later than May 9, 2022. If no counsel has entered an appearance by that time, then plaintiff will be expected to file his amended complaint by that date and to prosecute his case pro se. As already ordered (Dkt. No. 11 at 3), if Leonard fails to file an amended complaint by the deadline, then his original complaint (Dkt. No. 1), without any of the other information he has submitted, shall constitute his sole complaint. Entered by Magistrate Judge Joel C. Hoppe on 3/1/2022.
